Thermostat & HVAC Controls Services Smart, Simple, and Properly Installed

Your thermostat is the brain of your entire HVAC system. When it’s working correctly, you don’t think about it. When something’s off — whether it’s a faulty sensor, a miscommunication between components, or an old unit that’s simply reached the end of its useful life — your heating and cooling system behaves unpredictably regardless of how good the equipment is. At Riviance HVAC, we diagnose thermostat and control issues correctly and get your system communicating the way it should.

Our Thermostat & Control Services

Smart Thermostat Installation

A properly installed smart thermostat can reduce your heating and cooling costs by 10–15% annually through better scheduling, occupancy sensing, and learning your household's patterns.

Standard Thermostat Replacement

Not every home needs a smart thermostat. If you prefer a reliable, straightforward programmable or non-programmable unit, we'll install the right one for your system — wired correctly, calibrated accurately, and working from day one.

Thermostat Diagnostics & Wiring

Incorrect wiring is one of the most common causes of thermostat issues, particularly after a DIY installation or a system change. We diagnose wiring configurations across all system types — single-stage, two-stage, heat pump, dual-fuel, and zoned systems — and correct any errors that are causing control problems.

Zoning Systems Diagnostics & Replacement

The control board manages every aspect of your HVAC system's operation — when it starts, when it shuts off, how it responds to thermostat signals, and how it handles safety limits.  We diagnose control board issues with professional tools and replace them efficiently when needed.

FAQ

Technically yes, but compatibility isn't always straightforward — particularly with heat pumps, two-stage systems, and older HVAC equipment. An incorrectly wired thermostat can cause system errors, damage components, or simply not work as expected. Having it professionally installed takes 30–60 minutes and eliminates those risks.

Most smart thermostats are compatible with the majority of standard residential systems, but heat pumps, dual-fuel setups, and older systems sometimes require specific models or wiring adaptations. We'll confirm compatibility before we recommend anything.

Not necessarily. A blank display is often caused by a tripped circuit breaker, a blown fuse in the air handler, or a wiring issue rather than a failed thermostat. We'll diagnose the actual cause before recommending a replacement.

That's exactly what our diagnostic visit is for. Thermostat symptoms often overlap with system symptoms — short-cycling, for example, can be caused by the thermostat, the control board, or the equipment itself. We'll find the actual source of the problem rather than guessing.

We install and service Nest (Google), Ecobee, Honeywell Home (T6, T9, T10 series), and Emerson Sensi. Our recommendation depends on your system type, your preferences, and your existing smart home setup.

When Your System Isn't Listening, We'll Find Out Why.

Thermostat and control issues are often simpler to fix than they look — but they need to be diagnosed correctly first. Let us take a look.
