About Riviance HVAC Ann Arbor's Trusted Heating & Cooling Company
WHO WE ARE
Riviance HVAC is the Ann Arbor HVAC contractor that was built on a simple idea — treat every customer the way you'd want to be treated in your own home. After years working in the corporate HVAC world, our founder made the decision to go independent and build something different. A local company where every customer gets a real technician, an honest answer, and a written estimate before anyone picks up a tool. That's been the standard at Riviance for over 8 years — and it hasn't changed.
Our Story — Why We Started Riviance HVAC
The corporate HVAC world taught our founder everything there is to know about heating and cooling systems. It also showed exactly what was missing in how most companies treat their customers — generic service, unclear pricing, technicians who showed up in a 4-hour window and left without explaining what they did or why. Riviance was built as the alternative to that experience. We started in Ann Arbor and grew naturally across Washtenaw County — not through aggressive advertising, but through word of mouth from homeowners who appreciated being treated honestly. Ypsilanti landlords who needed a contractor they could rely on. Saline families who wanted someone to explain their options rather than just hand them an invoice. Canton homeowners who needed bilingual service in both English and Arabic. Eight years later, the business has grown — but the approach hasn't changed. We're still the team that picks up the phone at 2 AM, still the team that says "repair it" when repair is the honest answer, and still the team that cleans up completely before we leave.
Our Certifications & Credentials
Riviance HVAC holds the licenses and certifications that matter — not just for legal compliance, but because they represent a genuine standard of training and expertise that protects every homeowner we work with.
Michigan State Licensed — 3 Classifications Riviance holds active Michigan mechanical contractor licenses across three classifications issued by the State of Michigan:
- Class 2 — Warm Air Heating, Ventilating & Air Conditioning
- Class 5 — Refrigeration
- Class 7 — Hydronic Heating (boilers and hydronic systems)
Holding all three classifications means we’re legally qualified and technically trained across the full range of residential heating and cooling systems — not just the straightforward jobs.
EPA Section 608 Certified Our technicians hold active EPA 608 certification, which is federally required for anyone handling refrigerants. This covers the proper recovery, recycling, and handling of refrigerants including R-410A and the newer R-454B systems — something that matters especially as the industry transitions to next-generation refrigerants.
TracPipe Certified Contractor Riviance is certified to install TracPipe corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST) — the modern flexible gas piping system used in residential and light commercial applications. TracPipe certification requires specific training in proper installation, bonding, and safety compliance. Not every HVAC contractor carries this — it’s worth asking when gas line work is involved.
Fully Insured We carry full general liability insurance and workers compensation coverage on every job. Documentation available on request — and you should always ask for it from any contractor working in your home.
